About us
The Health Professions and Occupations Regulatory Oversight Office (the Oversight Office) oversees 6 health professional regulatory colleges in British Columbia to ensure they act in the public interest. We were established as an independent office of government under the Health Professions and Occupations Act (HPOA).
We protect the public from harm and discrimination by providing independent, trusted and responsive oversight of the health professional regulatory colleges.

Board appointments
The Oversight Office recruits and assesses candidates for B.C.’s 6 health professional regulatory college boards. We then make recommendations to the Minister of Health, who has the final decision-making authority to appoint board members.

Make a complaint
One of our roles is accepting complaints about:
- The performance or conduct of a health professional regulatory college
- The Health Professions and Occupations Act or its regulations
Anyone can submit a complaint. Learn about how we manage complaints and how to submit yours.

Health Professions Discipline Tribunal
The Health Professions Discipline Tribunal is an independent tribunal that oversees the discipline process for regulated health professions in B.C. The Discipline Tribunal makes sure the process is fair, effective and in the public interest.

Indigenous reconciliation
We are grateful to work on the homelands of First Nations across all of what we now call British Columbia. We thank the caretakers of these lands and honour their long tradition of supporting the health and safety of their people.
We are specifically grateful to the lək̓ʷəŋən (Lekwungen) speaking peoples- the Songhees and Xwsepsum First Nations and the W̱SÁNEĆ, Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw (Squamish Nation), xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam) and sel̓íl̓witulh (Tsleil-Waututh) Peoples, on whose territories our offices are located. We recognize and respect the distinct rights, cultures and histories of all Indigenous Peoples (First Nations, Métis and Inuit) who live in British Columbia.
