
Sherri Young
Sherri Young was appointed as the superintendent of the Health Professions and Occupations Regulatory Oversight Office (the Oversight Office) in the summer of 2024.
Sherri has more than 20 years of regulatory, compliance and enforcement experience at federal and territorial governments in a variety of fields including the natural resource sector and transportation. She has been responsible for multiple audits and has worked closely with partners to improve outcomes for the public. She served as the Public Service Commissioner in the Yukon for two years, where she helped develop a Health Human Resources Strategy for the Yukon.
In 2001, Sherri worked on inter-governmental initiatives for a non-government organization in Ontario to create policies and bylaws to measure and reduce public health impacts of air pollution. This included piloting the Air Quality Health Index in Ontario and developing anti-idling campaigns and bylaws with Natural Resources Canada, Environment Canada and municipalities.
In 2004, Sherri moved north and began her public service career with the Government of Canada and spent 10 years in the Northwest Territories and Yukon with the Departments of Indian and Northern Affairs Canada and Environment Canada. In 2014, she joined the Government of Yukon as a senior leader and held assistant deputy minister positions with the Departments of Environment and Transportation in Highways and Public Works.
